EBDA garante qualidade genética de caprinos e ovinos

Com o objetivo de melhorar a qualidade genética dos rebanhos de caprinos e ovinos da região do semiárido, através da técnica de inseminação, a Gerência Regional de Juazeiro, da Empresa Baiana de Desenvolvimento Agrícola S.A. (EBDA), órgão vinculado à Secretaria da Agricultura (Seagri), inseminou, este ano, 464 animais, beneficiando 48 famílias de agricultores familiares dos municípios de Juazeiro, Curaçá e Jaguarari.

Para alcançar esse resultado, os técnicos da EBDA utilizaram 692 doses de sêmen de caprinos da raça Anglonubiana, em 338 fêmeas. Com relação aos ovinos, foram inseminadas 110 matrizes, com sêmen das raças Dorper e Santa Inês. A meta para 2011 é continuar com a atividade, realizando no mínimo 300 inseminações nos rebanhos de agricultores familiares, em cada um dos 10 municípios atendidos pela Gerência.

Segundo Fernando Moura, gerente Regional da Empresa, em Juazeiro, todo o trabalho de inseminação é acompanhado pelos profissionais da Gerência, desde a utilização de hormônio, até a gestação. “Para atingir a meta de 3.000 animais inseminados, no próximo ano, é fundamental a adesão dos municípios ao projeto, pois esses são os responsáveis, de acordo com o convênio Nº 59/09 da EBDA/Seagri, pela aquisição dos hormônios e materiais necessários para a realização dos trabalhos”, esclareceu Moura.

Atendendo a solicitação de agricultores familiares, a Gerência Regional de Juazeiro também sugere a aquisição, pela Seagri, de sêmens das raças Parda Alpina, Saanem, Boer e Mambrina.

“A EBDA realiza todo o procedimento de assistência técnica junto aos agricultores familiares, sem custo para os mesmos, Entretanto, o mais importante no momento é aumentar as adesões, sensibilizando os gestores municipais da importância do projeto para a caprinovicultura da região, e, consequentemente, para a melhoria da qualidade de vida dos criadores que desejarem possuir um rebanho mais selecionado” comentou o gerente.

Procedimentos

Os agricultores familiares ou associações de produtores de caprinos e ovinos que desejem melhorar a qualidade genética do seu rebanho, devem procurar um dos escritórios da EBDA e se escrever nos cursos para capacitação.

A primeira etapa consta de uma reunião, e em dois dias de encontro, são realizadas atividades teóricas e práticas sobre orientações de manejo alimentar, sanitário e reprodutivo. A segunda etapa aborda o uso de hormônios estimulantes do estro (cio), e os demais procedimentos necessários à inseminação. A partir deste momento, os técnicos da empresa realizam, periodicamente, o acompanhamento das propriedades, e com 45 dias da inseminação, é realizado o primeiro diagnóstico de gestação.

As primeiras inseminações em animais de agricultores familiares aconteceram em agosto, e a expectativa para o nascimento dos cabritos é de que ocorra a partir da segunda quinzena de janeiro próximo.
