África do Sul libera importação de carne suína do Brasil

O Ministério da Agricultura, Florestas e Pesca (DAFF) da África do Sul liberou a importação da carne suína brasileira, após reunião na última semana com técnicos do governo brasileiro. O anúncio foi feito nesta quarta, dia 29, pelo ministro da Agricultura, Pecuária e Abastecimento, Wagner Rossi.

– A abertura do mercado sul-africano é um marco para o Brasil, pois é o último país a reverter a sua posição desde o foco de febre aftosa em 2005 registrado no nosso país. A África do Sul é um mercado promissor de algo em torno de US$ 40 a US$ 50 milhões por ano – avalia Rossi.

As últimas negociações para a liberação da carne ocorreram na sexta, dia 24, em Pretória, na África do Sul, durante encontro do diretor de Assuntos Sanitários e Fitossanitários do Ministério da Agricultura, Otávio Cançado, com dirigentes DAFF.
Para que os embarques iniciem, o governo sul-africano irá oficializar, em breve, a decisão e enviar um modelo de certificado sanitário internacional para as autoridades brasileiras. O documento indicará os critérios para as exportações da carne suína nacional. Hoje o Brasil já exporta carne bovina e de frango para o país africano.

As negociações com a África do Sul estavam entre as prioridades do Ministério da Agricultura neste ano, no sentido de ampliar e diversificar os mercados compradores da carne suína nacional. Em abril, um dos maiores consumidores do produto, a China, também anunciou o início das importações de carne suína brasileira. Na ocasião, a delegação brasileira chefiada pela presidente Dilma Rousseff esteve em Pequim. O ministro Wagner Rossi participou da comitiva. O governo ainda está em entendimento avançado com a Coreia do Sul e o Japão para autorizar os embarques do produto nacional.

Em 2010, o Brasil exportou US$ 451,7 milhões em produtos agropecuários para a África do Sul. A carne de frango é o principal produto embarcado para o país com receita de US$ 161,4 milhões, no ano passado. Em seguida, estão os produtos do complexo sucroenergético (açúcar e etanol), com US$ 58,8 milhões (US$ 56,6 milhões referem-se às exportações de açúcar). De janeiro a maio de 2011, as exportações para os sul-africanos totalizaram US$ 246,3 milhões, valor 19,4% superior ao registrado no mesmo período do ano passado. Nos cinco primeiros meses do ano, as carnes (frango e bovina) geraram a maior receita dos embarques brasileiros, com US$ 102,2 milhões, elevação de 20,8% em relação ao período de janeiro a maio de 2010.
