Ceplac mostra nova maneira de plantar cacau

Na última quarta-feira, dia 16 de dezembro de 2009, a Fazenda Almirante Cacau (Grupo MARS Cacau), sediada no município de Barro Preto na Bahia, recebeu a visita de mais um grupo de produtores da Associação da Sapucaieira, município de Ilhéus na Bahia, aos sistemas agroflorestais (SAFs) desenvolvidos em parceria com a Ceplac.

Sistemas estes que têm como culturas principais o cacaueiro e a seringueira, esta última, plantada como árvore de sombra permanente do cacaueiro, em fileiras duplas.

Ainda como exploração temporária, cultivos agrícolas, a exemplo da banana, mamão, milho, mandioca/aipins, feijão, abacaxi, cana-de-açúcar foram implantados nas entrelinhas e dentro das fileiras da seringueira, como fonte de renda para o agricultor, principalmente durante a fase de imaturidade das culturas permanentes.

Esta nova maneira de plantar o cacaueiro, consorciado com a seringueira, na região sul da Bahia, foi mostrada em campo pelos técnicos: Edmundo Paolilo Mandarino (MarsCacau) e José Raimundo Bonadie Marques (Cepec/Ceplac), para dirigentes e membros da Associação e técnicos da extensão do escritório local da Ceplac em Ilhéus.

Nesta visita, foi transferido aos participantes conhecimentos agro-economicos sobre o sistema e oferecido oportunidades para questionamentos sobre as etapas que vão desde a escolha de área; variedades clonais; abertura e re-enchimento de covas; plantio definitivo, até o manejo que deve ser dispensado aos cultivos, principalmente às seringueiras na fase inicial do seu desenvolvimento visando acelerar o seu crescimento vertical e formar copas mais elevadas, bem acima das dos cacaueiros. Este procedimento permite maior aeração, desfavorecendo a concentraçao de umidade e consequentemente menor incidência de enfermidades.
